Image for Newcastle United: Andrew Musgrove blown away by image after Bruno Guimaraes win

Journalist Andrew Musgrove has been blown away by an image of the Newcastle United fans celebrating their most recent Premier League win.

In their last outing, the Magpies played host to Leicester City at St James’ Park. Initially, things weren’t going to plan as Ademola Lookman gave the Foxes an early lead, but Eddie Howe’s men quickly responded through Bruno Guimaraes, and with moments left to play, it looked as though the match was destined to end all square.

However, deep into stoppage time, the Brazilian grabbed his second of the game with an emphatic diving header as he sealed the win for Newcastle.

Will Newcastle get into Europe next season?

A photo shared by the club’s official Twitter page perfectly captures the passion of the moment, with a shirtless Guimaraes chased by teammate Joelinton, while the home crowd can be seen behind in raptures. In the foreground of the picture, Matt Targett is seen embracing goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

Having seen the image, Musgrove retweeted it and added: “Oh my, this may be one of the best pictures ever.”

TIF Thoughts on NUFC and the win…

As a result of the three points, Newcastle are now up to 14th in the table and sit 12 points above the bottom three. This shows the progression the club have made since Howe replaced former manager Steve Bruce back in November.

Indeed, back then, the club were 19th in the league and five points from safety. Of course, they have been hugely helped by the money they were able to spend in the transfer market.

This fact proved itself on the weekend, with Guimaraes – who joined in January from Lyon for £40m – netting both the goals in the narrow win.

Regardless of how they’ve achieved it, though, it’s clear to see there is a great sense of unity between the players and the fans at the moment, and this is perfectly captured in the photo.
