West Ham United will be looking to add to their options at centre-back in this summer’s transfer window, according to Pete O’Rourke.

The football journalist was speaking to This Is Futbol on the areas in which David Moyes is looking to improve after a disappointing January window.

Should WHU have invested at CB in January?

Moyes’ side were unable to add any new faces to their squad in January with very little business being done by the Hammers despite their injury issues.

The Hammers have had some issues with injuries at centre-back this season with Kurt Zouma, Angelo Ogbonna and Issa Diop all suffering from respective injuries this season.

Asked whether sourcing more centre-backs in the transfer window amid recent links to Bundesliga duo Jeremiah St. Juste and Moussa Niakhate, O’Rourke said: “Yeah, that’s something that West Ham I’m sure will be exploring right now. They’ll be looking all across Europe.

“These two players you mentioned obviously are two centre-backs as well and we know that’s an area of the team that David Moyes wants to strengthen. They were unable to do it in the January transfer window.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

We think this will come to the delight of the West Ham fans given the Hammers have had their issues with injuries in that position this season.

And there will have been some frustrations after the January window which failed to see the Londoners add to their options despite playing on a number of fronts.

With previous links (via Sport Witness) to the likes of Nikola Milenkovic last summer, could this be a possibility West Ham look to revisit in the summer?
