Alasdair Gold is backing Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil to return from his loan spell in Spain to play a role in Antonio Conte’s squad.

Gil departed north London in January for a return to La Liga on a half-season loan deal with Valencia for the backend of the campaign.

Do you think Gil could be useful next season?

No

The 21-year-old only signed for Spurs in the summer, and after just a matter of months, he found himself packing his bags in search of some first-team football.

During his short spell in north London, Gil had racked up 20 appearances, but only eight of them had come under Antonio Conte after his appointment in November.

Yet, Gold has put some faith in the winger to return from his spell in Spain and actually play a role at Spurs under the Italian in the 2022/23 campaign:

“I’m also backing Bryan Gil to come back stronger from his Valencia loan spell and stick with Conte’s squad until at least January,” wrote Gold for football.london.

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

Gil has certainly made an impression during his spell with Valencia. The winger has totalled 13 showings so far, with 10 of those coming in La Liga and seven of those league appearances from the starting XI (via Transfermarkt).

And it is apparent those at Valencia would be keen on seeing the Spaniard play at the Mestalla next season, with manager Jose Bordalas saying the following on Gil and another loanee: “They would undoubtedly be welcome to continue.”

With speculation over the future of Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura, who have failed to provide any sort of impact for months, we would be interested to see if Gil could provide Conte with a useful option next season.
