Phil Hay has provided an update on the future of Kalvin Phillips at Leeds United amidst interest in the midfielder.

Leeds United have had to play the majority of this poor campaign without one of their star players in Phillips, who went under the knife a few months ago to fix a hamstring problem he sustained in December.

Would Phillips sign for Man United?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

This could point to one of the reasons why their season has been so bad and that they find themselves in the thick of a tight relegation battle with a handful of other teams, but with Phillips starting his first game since December last Monday, his presence could be huge for the run-in, though if he comes in and starts performing very well, talk of him leaving may only increase.

Hay believes that there is a lot of talk going on about Phillips and his Leeds future, which he discussed on The Phil Hay Show.

He said: “Our Manchester United lads have been wanting to write about Phillips, and it should be written about, because there is a lot of noise in Manchester about this. The prevailing view seems to be that Manchester United might well bid for him this summer.”

TIF Thoughts on Phillips’ future…

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

Phillips is still under contract until 2024 with Leeds, which means that the club are not right now in any rush to cash in on their England international, however, with some clubs such as Manchester United looking towards rebuilds this summer, Phillips has been touted with a move to Leeds’ rivals, as documented by The Athletic.

Phillips is a Leeds lad, having come through the club’s academy, so for fans to see him linked with a move to one of their biggest rivals will surely be gut-wrenching, but if the Whites can’t manage to keep up with Phillips’ growth and ambitions, they may have to come to the realisation that his future could well lie away from Elland Road.
