Journalist Alasdair Gold slammed Lucas Moura for his poor display against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.

Moura came on in the 64th minute for January signing Dejan Kulusevski after the Swedish winger failed to make an impact on the game, but the Brazilian failed to stamp his mark after coming on either.

The Brazilian winger has been out of favour this season for Spurs, he has made 29 appearances in the Premier League but 12 of those appearances have come from the bench and he hasn’t started in Spurs’ last nine league games.

And the 30-year-old finds himself in search of his first goal in the Premier League since December with his last coming in the Boxing Day victory over Crystal Palace.

Moura came on in the second half this afternoon against the Seagulls but failed to make an impact and Alasdair Gold highlighted this in his player rating piece for football.london: “Came off the bench, ran about a bit, offered nothing,” Gold wrote.

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

Lucas Moura has struggled to find any form this season in the Premier League for Spurs, he has just two goals in 29 appearances, which averages at a goal every 797 minutes, he has an average of 0.4 shots on target per game and makes an average of just one key pass per game, as per Sofascore.

The Brazilian only managed to complete one of his five passes attempted in the north London stadium and found himself losing possession eight times in just 26 minutes (via Sofa Score).

Dejan Kulusevski was brought in to Spurs on an 18-month loan deal, with an option to buy at the end of it, so Lucas Moura could see his game even further limited after the Swedish international has impressed since he signed. He has nine-goal contributions in 12 Premier League games.

Spurs have been heavily linked with Paulo Dybala, so this may be an indication of a potential exit for Moura in the summer, especially as his game time has been even more limited in recent weeks.
