Eddie Howe will be fuming with Martin Dubravka over the goal he conceded in Newcastle United’s victory this weekend.
The Magpies managed to make it five consecutive wins at St James’ Park yesterday when Bruno Guimaraes scored a brace – including a stoppage-time winner – to come from behind against Leicester City, who netted in the first half.
Do Newcastle need to replace Dubravka?

After Newcastle’s latest win, they’ve now come from behind to pick up the most points out of anyone in the Premier League with 14, showing that the mentality within the squad is a lot healthier now.
However, Howe would likely have preferred to have not gone behind yesterday, and he may well have been left shocked and angered by what Dubravka did for the goal, with Ademola Lookmna’s effort squirming under the ‘keeper’s body.
TIF Thoughts on Dubravka’s mistake…
The Slovakia international, who is valued at £4.5 million (as per Transfermarkt), has played all but one Premier League game under Eddie Howe after starting off the campaign with an injury for the second year in a row, and had to watch on in January as Dean Henderson was linked with a move to Tyneside, although nothing materialised.
If Dubravka wants to remain the No 1 for Newcastle United under PIF in this exciting new era, he will have to cut out mistakes like the one from yesterday and also become a better shot-stopper in general, as he currently boasts the third-worst shot save percentage in the league – only being better than Watford’s two goalkeepers – with Dubravka also having kept just five clean sheets all season.
