Image for Leicester City: Fans will fume after seeing image from Newcastle United loss

Plenty of Leicester City fans will be feeling pretty angry this morning having seen an image appear from their recent Premier League defeat.

Over the weekend, the Foxes travelled up to the north-east to face Newcastle United away from home. After 19 minutes, they led thanks to an effort from Ademola Lookman. Just 11 minutes later, though, they were pegged back by a Bruno Guimaraes equaliser, before surrendering all three points as the Brazilian scored his second of the game deep into stoppage time.

Losing in such a manner is always a bitter pill to swallow for fans of any club, but Leicester supporters will surely be feeling even more aggrieved right now after seeing where the ball was with only five seconds left on the clock.

Will the Foxes finish in the top ten this season?

No

No

Indeed, commentator Arlo White shared an image from the game, which shows Matt Targett just keeping the ball in play while on his own byline. It’s worth noting that four minutes of additional play had been added, and there were just five seconds to go before that time is reached.

Despite that, somehow, with the ball nowhere near the Foxes’ goal and with just moments to play, the Magpies managed to go up the other end of the pitch and claim a last-gasp winner through Guimaraes.

TIF Thoughts on Leicester and the defeat…

While this in isolation must feel pretty maddening for Leicester fans, it’s not the first time they’ve succumbed to defeat late on this season.

Indeed, most memorably, they managed to lose to Tottenham Hotspur at home back in January despite leading up until the 95th minute of the game as Steven Bergwijn scored two injury-time goals to claim a shock win.

After another late loss, it’s no surprise to see White dub the moment the ‘most Leicestery thing ever’ – though that will hardly soothe the anger of the club’s supporters this week.
