Newcastle United supporters will be buzzing to see that Alan Shearer has returned to the stands at St James’ Park.

Shearer was certainly not a favourable figure within the St James’ Park boardroom under former owner Mike Ashley, with the Sports Direct tycoon even removing his name from the pub that’s attached to the stadium.

However, Pete Graves has claimed on the Loaded HQ YouTube channel that PIF are wanting to bring back more former players and Newcastle legends to matches and work with the club on a day-to-day basis, and while Shearer was there filming with the Premier League, the fact he’s so excited to be in the stadium perhaps says a lot about the feeling around the club with these new owners.

Shearer took to Instagram to showcase that he was back inside St James’ Park with a caption that read: ‘Haven’t stood in the Gallowgate for a good few years!!!! A nice day filming for @premierleague tv.’

TIF Thoughts on Shearer’s post…

While it may not seem a lot to many clubs, for so long, people such as Kevin Keegan refused to come back to Newcastle United while Mike Ashley was owning the club, so having the club’s all-time top scorer displaying his joy at being in the ground could be seen as a testament to the work PIF are doing.

From the outside looking in, many may believe that Newcastle love their new owners just for the money they have brought, however, taking time out of their day to donate to the local food bank, supporting the women’s team, and as Graves said, working to get more legends that fans grew up adoring back into the club in some form is what’s really making the difference.
