Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Patrick Bamford will do well to play again for Leeds United before the end of the season.

Leeds have struggled this term and are currently in a relegation battle as they sit just two places above the drop zone. In February, they broke the record for the most goals (20) conceded in a calendar month, which consequently lead to the sacking of Marcelo Bielsa.

It could be argued that one of the main reasons why the Whites have struggled so much this season is because they have been without their main man up top for the majority of the campaign. Bamford has made just seven starts for his side this year in the Premier League.

Bamford returned to action for just his second start this calendar year against Wolves, but was forced off after 25 minutes due to injury, with the club suggesting he would likely face a minimum of six weeks out. While this would see him in line for a return in May, O’Rourke told GiveMeSport he is not hopeful the England striker will return before the season is out.

He said: “With Patrick Bamford, unfortunately, facing another spell on the sidelines, I think he’s going to do well to try and get back before the end of the season with his foot injury.”

TIF Thoughts on Pete O’Rourke’s comments…

Bamford has been severely missed this season for Leeds United. Last term in the Premier League, he was vital in their successful first season back in the top flight, as he scored 17 goals and grabbed seven assists, as per SofaScore.

Leeds are set to be without their star man for the foreseeable, and this could be bad news, as goals have been hard to come by this season for the Whites. Raphinha is their top scorer with nine and only three others have scored more than Bamford this year.

However, new boss Jesse Marsch has seemingly turned things around at Elland Road since his arrival, as his side hasn’t lost in their last three Premier League games, so if the Yorkshire side can continue this type of form for the remainder of the season, that should be enough to ensure safety without the need to rely on a speedy Bamford recovery.
