Former Liverpool player Jon Aldridge has been speaking on Sky Sports about why he thinks that based on current form, Mohamed Salah shouldn’t be starting for the Reds.

After recording a very impressive 3-1 away victory against Benfica in the Champions League, Liverpool will feel confident about progressing into the semi-finals. However, that joy will have to swiftly get out of their heads as they face league leaders and Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday.

Should Klopp drop Salah?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

A win would see Liverpool move to the top of the table with just a handful of games left to play, but to beat such a formidable side in Man City, they will need their star man Salah on form – something that’s eluded him in recent weeks, with no goals from open play in his last six games across all competitions.

Aldridge, who played for Liverpool between 1987 and 1989, has spoken about Salah and his place in the Liverpool side live on Sky Sports, saying: “If you’re going by form, Mo wouldn’t get in the team. As great as he is and as much as we love him, on present form, he shouldn’t.”

TIF Thoughts on Salah’s form and place in the team…

Even if Salah is on a poor run of form, for anyone to suggest that the league’s top scorer and Liverpool’s top scorer for the past five seasons shouldn’t be in the team for arguably their biggest game of the season is simply madness, and we think most Reds fans will agree.

If fit, then Salah has to start against Man City and it shouldn’t even be a debate. You would think it won’t be for Jurgen Klopp, whether he is in bad or good form, as the manager will want his best starting lineup out at the Etihad Stadium come Sunday afternoon, and Salah is at the very top of that list.
