Former Arsenal man Emmanuel Petit has claimed that Tammy Abraham would want to come back to England – and that he would fit perfectly with the Gunners.

Abraham joined AS Roma for £36m in the summer and has been in fine form in front of goal since he arrived in Italy. He has scored 23 goals and registered four assists in 41 appearances in all competitions this season.

Arsenal let Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave to join Barcelona in January, meaning they have had just Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah leading the line since.

With the lack of options in the attacking area for the Gunners, Petit has claimed that Abraham would be a perfect fit for Arsenal in the summer, and he believes that the English forward would be keen on a move back to the Premier League.

He stated: “He reminds me of Emmanuel Adebayor, his physical presence in the penalty area.

“I’m pretty sure he wants to come back to England and he would fit perfectly at Arsenal because he’s a different player to Alexandre Lacazette with a different style, different physique and he’s a goalscorer.”

TIF Thoughts on Emmanuel Petit’s comments…

Chelsea signed Romelu Lukaku from Inter in the summer, meaning Tammy Abraham slipped down the pecking order, which consequently saw a move for the English forward to Roma as he sought regular game time.

He has proved his worth since moving to Italy, averaging a goal every 169 minutes in Serie A, as well as 2.8 shots per game, creating five big chances this term, as per SofaScore.

Lacazette has been a loyal servant for the Gunners, but he has scored just four goals in 24 Premier League games this season, and with the new creative talent coming through the ranks at the club, Tammy Abraham could be the perfect frontman to lead the line.
