Leeds United had a great opening 45 minutes against fellow relegation candidates Watford on Saturday afternoon, taking a 1-0 lead into the break thanks to Raphinha.

The Brazilian opened the scoring after 21 minutes at Vicarage Road with a sublime finish. It was brilliant work from Dan James who kept the ball alive to find Raphinha. He then did the rest of the hard work himself, wrapping his foot around a ferocious strike to beat Ben Foster at his near post.

You wouldn’t expect him to be beaten like that, but take nothing away from the Leeds man, who managed to break the deadlock and give his side a much-needed footing to go into the second half with.

Reporting for BBC Radio 5 Live, Jonathan Woodgate was full of praise for the forward, saying: “Quality from Raphinha; that is why teams all over the world are looking at this player. An outstanding touch; lined it up perfectly. He places it in the back of the net. Ben Foster has absolutely no chance; what a finish.”

Not only was it a big goal for Leeds, but it was also a big goal personally for Raphinha, who brought up double figures for the season, scoring his 10th goal in what was his 29th appearance. He has 45 minutes to further add to his tally, too!

Which comedian supports the Whites?

Raphinha is the only Leeds player to hit double figures this season for goals so far – you dread to think where the Whites would be without him given how close they still are to the drop zone.
