Celtic are only a matter of games away from claiming their 52nd Scottish Premier League title and once again leaving their bitter rivals in their wake, and you could see it as clear as day in their game against St Johnstone, according to journalist John McGinley.

The Hoops are currently sitting nine points clear at the top of the table after dispatching 11th-placed St Johnstone with ease and they look all the bit like a title-winning side under boss Ange Postecoglou.

Summer signings Kyogo Furuhashi, Liel Abada, Josip Juranovic, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Reo Hatate and Joe Hart have all been huge contributors to the team this season and have all carried the team to avenge the failings of last season and claim the bragging rights over current holders Rangers.

This newfound form has never been more epitomised than their utter domination of St. Johnstone, winning 7-0 at home with goals from six different players. Journalist McGinley summarised the performance on Twitter, stating:

“Celtic playing with a freedom today that has actually been quite rare this season. Confidence oozing through the team, every player desperate to get to the box.”

TIF Thoughts on Celtic’s dominating performance…

Celtic have always been a force to be reckoned with, but this season, they have stepped it up a gear under new boss Postecoglou after their bitterly disappointing 2020/21 season where they finished behind an unbeaten Rangers side that finished with 102 points compared to their 77.

There were a lot of question marks around Postecoglou when he joined from Japanese outfit Yokohama F. Marinos in the summer, but he has been nothing short of fantastic in his short stint at the club so far.

His new signings have been influential, with Kyogo Furuhashi racking up 16 goals and five assists in all competitions, 20-year-old Liel Abada boasting 14 goals and 11 assists, and winger Jota putting up nine goals and nine assists – with two key passes and 1.8 dribbles per game, (as per WhoScored).

They have dominated the league this season, and without a doubt, will continue to do so under the guidance of Postecoglou. Rangers have a lot of catching up to do.
