Leeds United will definitely be looking to sign a new striker in the upcoming summer transfer window.

That is according to the football journalist Dean Jones who has been speaking to This Is Futbol ahead of the Premier League run-in.

Should Bamford be replaced in the summer?

Jesse Marsch has arrived at Leeds United who are aiming to retain their spot in the English top-flight after a difficult campaign that has been marred by injuries.

Injuries up front have played a huge role in the Whites’ season with Patrick Bamfordlast season’s top scorer – missing the large majority of the 2021/22 campaign.

And with the Englishman now suffering his third issue of the season, Marsch has been hit with a new blow to the young striker, Joe Gelhardt, who was withdrawn in a recent U23s game:

Leeds are definitely going to look to sign a new striker. I think irrelevant of whether Bamford is fit or not. We’ve seen that you have to have backup for him,” said Jones.

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

We think this will be exactly what Leeds fans will want to hear. The issues sustained by Bamford will be of a huge concern given he has been unable to actually make a return from any of the injuries this season.

On both of his returns, the 29-year-old has been forced off the pitch having not completed a full game after either aggravated the issues or picking up a new problem.

And with Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood the two out-and-out strikers available to Marsch, it has left a huge gap in the Yorkshire side’s ability in front of goal.

Last season, Bamford netted 17 league goals and this season Raphinha leads the way with nine and we do not think Leeds can take the risk of relying on Bamford again.
