Phil Hay has been speaking about the likelihood of Leeds United going back in for Conor Gallagher this summer.

It’s no secret that Leeds United were on the hunt for a central midfielder last summer under the watchful eye of Marcelo Bielsa with Lewis O’Brien someone that they attempted to bring to Elland Road, but he wasn’t the only one with on-loan Crystal Palace ace Conor Gallagher also spoken about.

Who would you rather Leeds signed?

Gallagher!

Gallagher!

Aaronson!

Aaronson!

Gallagher is having a stellar season at Selhurst Park starting all but four league games this season registering the second-most goal involvements out of anyone in the Palace side with eight goals and three assists, which has seen his parent club’s manager Thomas Tuchel claim they’d love to have him involved with the side next campaign.

If Gallagher isn’t offered first-team opportunities though he may look at his options in the summer, speaking on The Phil Hay Show, Hay admits he can’t see Leeds revisiting the midfielder.

(42:33) “Well, I must confess, and my feeling was that he [Gallagher] was a decent enough player to be going for, but I didn’t look at him and think that is the signing that would drive the season in the way that he kind of has for Palace.

I have to say I wouldn’t object at all if Leeds, I don’t think Leeds will go back for him this summer, but I wouldn’t object at all if they did.”

TIF Thoughts on Leeds possibly going for Gallagher…

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

The current Palace midfielder, who is valued at £22.5 million (as per Transfermarkt), will certainly have a lot of interested parties in the summer if he decides that there aren’t going to be enough first-team opportunities for him at Stamford Bridge, however, he may want to be involved at a club with loftier ambitions and a chance of playing in Europe, something Leeds can’t currently offer.

Leeds were interested in signing another central midfielder in January in the form of Brenden Aaronson, someone that plays for RB Salzburg, part of the Red Bull group, something Marsch has been involved with twice during his career, so it would not be a surprise to see the club once again go for the American international instead of someone such as Gallagher.
