Phil Hay has dropped some potentially exciting team news ahead of Leeds United’s upcoming game.

Leeds United return to Premier League action on Monday night after a long break due to their opponents Crystal Palace being in FA Cup action last weekend, so a lot of the players will now be fully rested and ready to get after a side that have a lost three games in a row and just played Wednesday night.

Should Phillips start on Monday?

Yes!

Jesse Marsch will know that his side are far from secure in the Premier League just five points above the drop zone after Burnley’s win last night against Southampton, however, with the Whites on a four-game unbeaten run, it appears that a win on Monday would go a long way to confirming their status as a top-flight club once again.

Hay believes that the long break may have benefited Kalvin Phillips, who hasn’t started a game since December, as he spoke on The Phil Hay Show.

(54:08) “Also, we might see Philips start at Selhurst Park that’s been coming I think, assuming he’s okay we’re due to speak to Marsch tomorrow [today] so we’ll find out where he’s at.

He did play again against Watford and he’s had two weeks since then and again, you put him in the team and I think Leeds are a different animal.”

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

The Leeds United midfielder has experienced an injury-plagued campaign with a hamstring keeping him out for large chunks of this campaign, however, he’s clocked up some minutes over the last few games featuring in the previous two, hinting that a start could well be on the cards.

Phillips and the rest of the Leeds squad were handed some time off during their break from Premier League football with the midfielder jetting off to Portugal with his family, so after some sun and a break from training, now could be the right time for Marsch to unleash his England international in a game that could go a long way to securing their safety.
