Newcastle United star Miguel Almiron is still in Eddie Howe’s plans despite rumours surrounding where his future lies.

This is according to the Toon correspondent Lee Ryder who has been writing for The Chronicle after another win at St. James’ Park for the Magpies.

Should NUFC sell Almiron this summer?

And it was Almiron who provided the goal on Wednesday night which separated the Tyneside club and Crystal Palace in a narrow 1-0 victory.

Almiron has now been playing his football at St. James’ for over two years having made the move from the MLS side, Atalanta United, back in 2019 for a reported fee of £21.6m.

And with reports suggesting Almiron could potentially be made available this summer for as little as £6m, Ryder claimed a future on Tyneside is still to be had for the Paraguayan:

“Miguel Almiron is still very much in Eddie Howe’s thoughts ahead of what is expected to be a hectic summer on Tyneside,” Ryder wrote.

“Almiron and his representatives have refused to get drawn into talk of a summer exit in the last week or so and for now Chronicle Live understands they want his football to do the talking.”

TIF Thoughts on Ryder’s comments…

Almiron’s goal on Wednesday night was certainly impressive and a sign of what he can produce when playing at his best, however, his record in England is not so impressive.

Interestingly, it was claimed that Newcastle and Howe didn’t particularly rate the Paraguayan but now it seems as if his recent displays have changed their minds.

Having made 118 appearances across all competitions, Almiron has been able to find the back of the net just 14 times and provided four assists (via Transfermarkt).

He has also started just seven games under Eddie Howe, which does make us question whether Almiron does have a future on Tyneside or whether his goal on Wednesday has got people slightly carried away?
