Everton and Frank Lampard may have been handed a major injury boost as Yerry Mina has been seen back in training at Finch Farm.

Lampard has had to deal with his fair share of injuries and absences during his short tenure at Goodison Park, with the likes of Mina, Jordan Pickford and Donny van de Beek all missing time on the pitch for separate reasons.

Will Mina keep Everton safe?

The Toffees currently boast the fifth-worst defensive record in the Premier League, so the return of Mina to training will be huge for everyone as he can be ‘an absolutely imposing figure’ according to Dave Prentice, who spoke about the defender earlier this season.

Mina was clearly buzzing to be back in training as he walked out onto the grass smiling and laughing with teammate Alex Iwobi, as shown by the club via the Toffees’ official Twitter account.

TIF Thoughts on Mina’s return…

The Colombia international has not been seen in a starting lineup since 8th February when he limped off during a 3-1 defeat away at Newcastle United, but he is clearly a very important player for the Toffees, as out of any outfielder to have started more than one game, he has the best points-per-game ratio, averaging 1.40 (FBRef).

According to injury analyst Ben Dinnery, Mina is still targeting a return against Leicester City next Wednesday, so fans and Lampard may not have to wait much longer until their long-term absentee makes his comeback.
