Journalist Greg O’Keeffe has been speaking on the All Together Now podcast about the latest developments surrounding Everton’s new stadium.

Over the last few weeks and months, it has been a tough time for Everton, with the club staring relegation in the face while also seeing Alisher Usmanov cut his ties with the club, causing them to lose out on key sponsorship deals – and mainly one involving the naming rights to their new stadium.

Will Everton's stadium be the best in England?

This left many questions up in the air about Everton’s ability to deliver their new stadium on time and how it was supposed to look, however, the club have now locked in a deal with Laing O’Rourke, which will see the contractor deliver the final phase of the development for the club’s new home.

This has now put to bed any fears or concerns over Everton’s new stadium, as O’Keeffe spoke about.

He said: “As the cost of living crisis and inflation is rampant across the world, prices can shoot up, but Everton have managed to lock that in quite shrewdly, with Laing O’Rourke.

“My understanding of it, anyway, means that we’re in a really good position, and they are in a good position to deliver the stadium on time.”

TIF Thoughts on Everton’s new stadium…

While Everton’s Premier League status is far from secured, the fact that they now have assurances that their stadium plans will be fulfilled on time with this latest agreement will excite fans for the future.

The Bramley-Moore Dock stadium is set to be completed in 2024 and will take pride of place near the waterfront and be able to house 52,888 Evertonians – a huge increase on what Goodison Park is capable of right now, so it’s certainly an exciting new dawn for the Toffees if they can stay in the Premier League.
