Tony Scott has been speaking on the All Together Now podcast about how Salomon Rondon should start in the Merseyside derby.

Evertonians watched on as their side picked up a very dramatic and potentially huge point in their battle against the relegation zone against Leicester City and momentarily moved four points clear of the drop zone with their top scorer Richarlison turning up when it mattered.

Should Rondon start vs Liverpool?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The Brazilian saw his weak and deflected strike end up hitting the side netting leaving Kasper Schmeichel helpless in the goal, although this wouldn’t have come about had it not been for two substitutes in the form of Dele Alli and Salomon Rondon.

The latter has one league goal in 12 appearances for Everton this season, despite having an XG of 4.3, but Scott now wants to see him start on Sunday against Liverpool.

“The game changed when Rondon come on, dare I say and he give us an option up front, he was trying to hold the ball up well, we just had a focal point to stick it up there get balls in the box left, right and centre and just a bit more of a presence up there.

“We saw Richarlison come more to life when Rondon was on the pitch, so you know what? There are not many Blues I think begrudgingly would say at the moment but he should be a starter in the Merseyside derby.”

Which of these Serie A stars did the Toffees miss out on?

The Venezuelan striker, who is valued at £3.6 million (as per Transfermarkt), was signed by former doomed manager Rafael Benitez, who made it three clubs in a row that he had worked with the striker, but the 32-year old never truly repaid the faith his boss showed in him with just one goal across all competitions before the Spaniard was sacked.

However, midweek for Everton he certainly made an impact with 13 touches and the most goal-creating actions in the Everton side and when they face Liverpool on Sunday they’ll likely be up against Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip, two tall and commanding centre backs, so having Rondon’s height and physically could give the Toffees a viable output.
