David Hughes has been speaking on the All Together Now podcast about how Fabian Delph stepped up and impressed during Everton’s win last weekend.
Delph has not had the most successful times at Everton since swapping the current Premier League champions for the Toffees, however, this season’s lack of game time has not been down to his level of performance, with the midfielder struggling with injuries and only starting his first game since December last weekend.
Should Delph be a regular starter for Everton?

Another reason why Delph has struggled at Everton is that he’s previously been caught up in a social media spat with a fan who slammed some of his performances for the club.
Hughes was very much impressed by Delph and his first start in a few months for Everton against Manchester United last weekend.
“I thought the return of Fabian Delph was big as well. Rightfully, he’s had some criticism in the past, but I do think, in this current squad, he’s one of Everton’s better midfielders.”

The England midfielder, who is valued at £2.7 million (as per Transfermarkt), was a dominant force in Frank Lampard’s side last Saturday as Everton picked up a huge three points. Delph won the second-most tackles and made himself an option for several passes as he was targeted 18 times by his teammates (FBRef).
Having not started a league game since December, Delph was able to get through 83 minutes, and by the stats listed above, he made a meaningful impact on a game that was a must-win match for the Toffees, despite playing a team fighting for the top four and Lampard will be hoping this is a sign of things to come from the midfielder.
