Oliver Skipp is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines having picked up an injury back in January which has got Antonio Conte furious.

The Italian manager has made no secret of his admiration for the 21-year-old and Alasdair Gold has discussed the details of his injury on his latest YouTube video.

Skipp has been missing from the Spurs squad since the end of January and his absence has clearly left the 52-year-old manager frustrated with the club doctors.

The young midfielder had a big role in Conte’s XI before picking up the injury and Spurs had only lost one league game under Conte with Skipp in the side.

However, Gold was unable to provide much of a positive update on how Skipp is recovering from his injury issue which has now seen him miss seven league games in which Spurs have picked up just nine points:

(58:00) “The actual thing he’s got I believe – I’ve written it down here – so what it is the injury relates to this is where we go a all a bit Latin, pubic symphysis.

“So that’s the area he’s having a bit of an issue with. It’s obviously a sensitive area as you can tell by one of the words in there it’s all down there in the painful area.

“And it’s just about him not having this kind of pain as it were. And yeah, I’ve kind of tried to look up to it and I’m no doctor or medical expert in any way. But it does seem like something that needs a little bit of time to get over. I just hope we see him again this season. I hope we do.”

TIF Thoughts on Skipp’s injury…

Since Skipp has been sidelined, Conte has seen Rodrigo Bentancur added to his squad and the Uruguayan has been a prominent member of Conte’s XI.

And we do wonder whether Skipp – had he been fit – would feature alongside Bentancur. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has lacked consistency this season and Harry Winks has clearly not over Conte.

There is no getting away from Tottenham’s poor form and we do wonder how much of an influence Skipp’s absence has had on that given their form under Conte with Skipp in the side.
