Michael Normanton has commented on the latest footage to emerge of a penalty decision Leeds United didn’t get yesterday.

Leeds United did see one VAR decision go their way yesterday during their must-win games against relegation rivals Norwich City as Luke Ayling’s apparent foul was overturned by the VAR team and that allowed Leeds to maintain their 1-0 lead.

Will Leeds avoid the drop?

However, one that didn’t go for them was when Daniel James appeared to race through on goal only to be barged over by a Norwich defender, something that saw Nathan Collins sent off for against Brentford only a day earlier, highlighting the inconsistency there is amongst Premier League referees.

Normanton has made that same comparison on Twitter as this footage is now circulating and it’s lucky that Leeds ended up scoring in added time to ensure Leeds picked up three points, otherwise this decision may have been very costly and been a huge talking point amongst the Leeds faithful.

TIF Thoughts on Leeds’s penalty decision…

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

While shoulder to shoulder contact is always expected and usually accepted within football, Brandon Williams has likely gone over the line in this instance as he appears to just barge into James’ back as he closed in on goal, so Leeds can feel hard done by on this decision.

However, given the scenes inside Elland Road when Joe Gelhardt scored an injury-time winner, many fans will not care too much about a decision that didn’t go their way as all that mattered in this match was the three points.
