Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte was seen on the touchline on Saturday trying to tell his players to keep their concentration after both of their goals.

That is according to journalist Alasdair Gold who was speaking on his YouTube channel but it is apparent the message was not taken on board by the Spurs players.

Is the top four out of reach now?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Gold, reporting from the press box on Saturday, noticed the Italian pointing at his head suggesting his players need to keep calm and concentrate.

Harry Kane levelled the score in the first half from the penalty spot after 35 minutes but the Lilywhites quickly found themselves behind again just three minutes later.

And having once again clawed their way back to level proceedings, it took just nine minutes for the north London club to concede what proved to be the winning goal for Manchester United.

The goals will have left Conte furious on the sideline as Gold spotted the Italian trying to instruct his players to keep a their heads having clawed their way back level:

(12:30) “It’s quite interesting when he talks about the players not being calm after both the first and second goal mainly after the second Spurs goal, you saw him doing this [points to head]. He was doing this a lot. Kind of like think, think and like calm, calm.

“And then I mean, what was it United’s third come about eight/nine minutes later, I think it was nine minutes later.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

Spurs did not particularly play poorly on Saturday night and had plenty of opportunities to get something from the game having had the same number of shots as the hosts (via SofaScore).

However, there were too many individual mistakes that cost them the points and it was evident Conte’s instructions of keeping their heads were not taken on board.

United’s second goal was a big example of this. The Spurs backline was all over the place, some players were stepping up and others weren’t – leaving Cristiano Ronaldo with just Hugo Lloris to beat.

The top four feels as if it has slipped away from Spurs and their win one, lose one record is really hurting their chances of even making the Europa League.
