Podcaster Declan McConville has claimed that Cameron Carter-Vickers has been outstanding for Celtic this season and could be in with a shout for Player of the Season.

Carter-Vickers has been a mainstay in the Celtic side this campaign whilst on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, featuring 25 times in the Scottish Premiership, as per Transfermarkt.

His impressive displays in Scotland this season have attracted the attention of many English Premier League clubs such as Leicester City and West Ham United, with as many as six clubs – including Celtic – keeping tabs over a permanent move for the defender in the summer, as per TEAMtalk.

McConville has suggested on the A Celtic State of Mind podcast just how good Carter-Vickers has been this season for the Hoops.

He said: “Obviously the goal against St Mirren, another outstanding performance. I think, arguably, he’s in with a shout for Player of the Year for Celtic this year. He’s been absolutely solid in that Celtic defence. Even going forward on Sunday, he was like a lorry going through that Livingston team.”

TIF Thoughts on Cameron Carter-Vickers…

Carter-Vickers has been an outstanding performer for Celtic this season, especially in recent weeks, as he has an average match rating of 7.08/10 over his past five games awarded to him by SofaScore.

With several Premier League clubs showing interest down south, it may be hard for Celtic to keep their man beyond the summer.

However, due to the impressive performances from the 24-year-old this season, Carter-Vickers may opt to stay in Scotland to continue his good form – which could well see his stock rise in the future if he were to move on at a later date.

The American international, who is valued at £2.7m (as per Transfermarkt), has been now been on loan to seven different clubs since 2017, so come the end of the 2021/22 campaign, if the option of regular game time at Spurs does not present itself, you would imagine he will opt for a permanent move elsewhere at this pointi n his career.
