Celtic supporters will have been up in arms over an incident from their victory at the weekend in the Scottish Premiership.

Ange Postecoglou’s men maintained their grip on top spot in the Scottish Premiership thanks to a comfortable 4-0 victory at Celtic Park this past weekend.

A hat-trick from Giorgos Giakoumakis and a Daizen Maeda strike saw them ease to victory against Ross County, however, things could have been even more comfortable for them if things had gone their way in the first half as it pertained to a possible penalty.

With the score at 1-0, Jota turned near the edge of the County penalty area and attempted to put in a cross, however, he was impeded by Joseph Hungbo, and the ball certainly appeared to hit him with his arms raised, giving Celtic every reason to think they should have had a penalty.

In the grand scheme of things, it didn’t really make that much of a difference as Celtic went on to win comfortably, however, it’s little decisions like these that can infuriate fans due to a lack of consistency.

After seeing how soft the decision that went Alfredo Morelos’ way against Dundee yesterday, this decision by Don Robertson looks even worse.

Given how close the title race is, with Celtic just three points ahead of Rangers, goal difference could end up being the deciding factor. And whilst that difference is currently 14 in Celtic’s favour, a couple of bad results or a few weeks of them only winning by one-goal margins whilst Rangers put up threes and fours could shrink that margin very quickly.

So Celtic really need all the little things to go their way from here on out if they are to hold onto their lead at the top of the table, and things like this incident that might seem small could end up being somewhat bigger further down the line.
