Whilst Ange Postecoglou could be about to pull off another masterstroke when it comes to transfers at Celtic, Tom Rogic might not be feeling so happy.

According to a report from The Daily Record, Celtic could be in a position to sign Bayern Munich youngster Christopher Scott.

The 19-year-old has made a couple of cameo appearances for the senior side, but has done most of his damage at youth level for his current club and former side Bayer Leverkusen, which has seen him rack up 43 goals and 13 assists during his young career so far.

According to the same report from The Daily Record, Celtic could pay as little as £250,000 for his services. The report states: “Bayern Munich will trigger the one-year option they have on his current contract, which ends in May, to ensure they don’t lose the teenager star for free. But the Bundesliga giants are happy to let the attacking midfielder leave the Allianz Arena.”

And when it comes to cheap signings that have turned out well, Postecoglou certainly has a track record of it whilst at Celtic. The impressive Matt O’Riley was bought for just £1.5m, while arguably their player of the season Kyogo Furuhashi cost £4.6m. Elsewhere, Giorgos Giakoumakis, who has found his form recently, was only £2.5m.

So it could well be that this youngster could be the latest bargain buy, because when it comes to hidden gems, the Australian boss certainly knows how to find them.

But whilst Scott might come in, it could mean one player is on the way out.

Tom Rogic’s spot might be in trouble

Whilst Rogic has been a big part of Celtic’s efforts this season, making 42 appearances and chipping in with five goals and 10 assists along the way, his place in the side in recent weeks has been far from a guarantee, as the Australian has only started four of the past seven games and is set to be out for some time following an injury he sustained in their last match.

Injuries have been a problem for him throughout his Celtic career, and this latest one might just be the spark that Postecoglou needs to rethink whether or not he can rely on him moving forward – and if Scott, who plays the same position as him in midfield, could be the man to replace him.

At £250,000, there isn’t really a lot of risk associated with the move. Looking at his numbers, he certainly knows where the goal is and how to produce up top, so Scott appears to be worth the gamble, but even if he isn’t able to recreate those numbers at senior level, it’s not as if they would have broken the bank to make it happen.

However, given Postecoglou’s track record, it could well be that there is another star on Celtic’s hands, and given his young age, Scott could be set to help them out for a long time to come.
