Tottenham Hotspur are still within touching distance of securing Champions League football next season, however, fresh setbacks look destined to hinder their chances.

The injury list for Antonio Conte is growing, with Japhet Tanganga joining those in the treatment room. The timing couldn’t be any worse as they take on one of their rivals for the top four on later today. West Ham United visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a must win clash for both sides.

Headaches for Antonio Conte?

Tanganga hasn’t featured since the end of January after suffering a knee injury, he has since gone under surgery to solve the problem. Spurs confirmed that he wouldn’t feature again until pre-season next season, giving the Italian manager more problems.

It’s another injury for Conte to contend with, he already is unsure about the return date of Oliver Skipp and now he is without the versatile Tanganga for the full season.

Although he hasn’t been a regular starter for Spurs, football is a squad game, and seeing the squad get thinner at such a crucial stage of the season is a huge blow to Conte before the run in.

Tottenham are currently three points off Arsenal in 4th, but their north London rivals have a game in hand so Conte knows any further slip ups could be terminal to their top four chances.

Japhet Tanganga’s Spurs career over?

Does this injury signal the end of Tanganga’s career at Spurs? He clearly hasn’t been the most fancied of the options, only making 11 Premier League appearances this campaign.

It was also no secret in January that Conte was after bringing Adama Traore to the club to play in that wing-back role, further suggesting he isn’t rated too highly by his manager.

You’d feel that the young defender will have to either fully convert to playing in the centre of defence or his time at Spurs could be coming to an end if he keeps falling down the pecking order at right back.
