Tottenham Hotspur supporters will love Jan Vertonghen’s latest Instagram post from Wednesday afternoon showing him meeting up with Mousa Dembele.
The two Belgians played together for a number of years in north London and have since moved on to new clubs, however, it seems they have kept in touch.
Vertonghen is currently playing his football over in Portugal with Benfica and Dembele is set to retire at the end of his current deal with Chinese club Guangzhou R&F.
Belgian defender Vertonghen posted an image on Wednesday of his family with Dembele and a number of his family members sitting next to a beach in Portugal.
The image shows the former Spurs players sat next to each other with Dembele’s arm around the Benfica man’s shoulders. with Vertonghen captioning the post: “Family.”
And it was apparent current Spurs defender, Eric Dier, loved the image of his former teammates as he commented: “In my ends,” referring to his time in Portugal.
Dembele departed north London back in 2019 for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £4.82m just a matter of months before Spurs moved into their new N17 home.
Over the midfielder’s 249 appearances, he only returned 10 goals and 12 assists across all competitions, but become a cult hero among those at Spurs for his ability on the ball.
Although neither player got their hands on any silverware during their time at Spurs, they both played big roles in Tottenham’s impressive 2016/17 campaign.
And fans will be pleased to see the pair have kept in contact despite going their separate ways over recent years, with Vertonghen still having over one year left with the Portuguese side.
