Alan Shearer has posted his latest Premier League Team of the Week on Instagram, which includes Newcastle United’s Fabian Schar.
Newcastle have been in stupendous form over the last few weeks – with only Liverpool picking up more points than them over the last six Premier League matches – which has seen them move seven points clear of the bottom three.
Does Schar deserve a new contract?

These performances have certainly not gone unnoticed, with Shearer having now picked at least one Magpies player in his Team of the Week for the last five weeks, although Schar is the only one to have featured more than once in that period of time.
Schar scored his first goal of the season on Saturday with what turned out to be the match-winning strike, but Shearer admitted that it was a ‘tough one’ this week when it came to picking his best 11 players from the weekend.

The Switzerland international, who is valued at £6.3 million (as per Transfermarkt), has become a regular under Eddie Howe having featured in every single game during the Magpies’ recent eight-game unbeaten streak, showing how important he is to Howe’s side and his way of playing, having kept three clean sheets, netted once and registered an assist during this run.
However, Schar is set to become a free agent this summer unless the planned talks that Howe confirmed will happen with the player’s agent can see them come to an agreement that will keep him at the club for a little longer.
