Journalist Dean Jones has claimed a move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Arsenal is growing increasingly likely as the days go on ahead of the summer transfer window.

Jones was speaking about the Gunners’ transfer plans on the latest episode of Touchline Talk.

The football journalist believes the north London side will have a new striker at the forefront of their plans for the summer despite Alexandre Lacazette’s recent form.

Jones feels Everton’s Calvert-Lewin has a real possibility of moving to the Emirates Stadium in the summer, with the striker linked to the Gunners for a while now.

He said: “Calvert-Lewin, I’ll tell you what, is becoming more and more of an option and one that’s more and more likely by the day. I mean, Everton getting stuffed 5-0 on Monday night by Tottenham – he’ll be a bit disillusioned by what’s going on over there right now.

“If they’re relegated, he will 100% be leaving Everton. If they survive, his future at Everton is still in doubt. And I think that Arsenal will be one of the first clubs knocking on the door to ask if he’s interested in a transfer. And I think that he would be a really, really good fit for that team.”

TIF Thoughts on Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Arsenal…

Arsenal have had their struggles with strikers this season, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struggling in front of goal for the first half of the campaign before leaving in January.

And Lacazette has not exactly been prolific in front of goal, having found the back of the net just three times in the Premier League (via Transfermarkt).

Despite this, the Gunners still occupy fourth spot in the table and we think the addition of a proven Premier League striker like Calvert-Lewin could be an exciting prospect.

The 24-year-old has struggled with injury this season, however, he did hit double figures for the Toffees in the previous two Premier League seasons.
