Fabrizio Romano has claimed the future of Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspur will depend largely on the future of Antonio Conte and whether the club qualifies for the Champions League.

Romano was speaking about the Spurs talisman on the latest episode of the Here We Go podcast.

Will Kane be at Spurs next season?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Kane is now nearing the final two years of his current deal with the north London club, but there is speculation as to whether he will put pen to paper on a new deal.

The Lilywhites currently remain three points behind bitter rivals Arsenal, who occupy the final spot for Champions League qualification for next season.

However, Romano is convinced the situation will be looked at following the end of the 2021/22 campaign with both Conte and Kane having a better outlook as to where the club stands.

He said: “So the feeling around Harry Kane is super positive. But he also said we all want to play Champions League football here at the club. It’s also about other players, not just Harry Kane, because we always say Harry Kane wants to play Champions League football and it’s not just Harry Kane. So they’re going to fight for it.

“But the impact of Antonio Conte will be important. What’s next for Antonio Conte is important to understand what’s next for Harry Kane, too.

“So keep an eye on this situation because Conte’s future is linked to Harry Kane’s future. And for Tottenham, their strategy is clear: wait until the end of the season, hope to go to play Champions League football and then offer Harry Kane a new deal, because they want him to stay with a new fresh deal.”

TIF Thoughts on Kane’s future…

We are also interested to see where Kane’s future lies in the summer and we do question whether we will see a repeat of last summer if Spurs do not make the Champions League.

Spurs are still in the hunt for a spot in the top four, but if they fail to qualify, he could well look to force an exit again, with Manchester City said to be interested.

However, City are also heavily linked with Erling Haaland, and we do wonder where Kane’s stance would lie if City were to sign the Norwegian striker.
