Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on the Que Golazo YouTube channel about Sadio Mane and his situation at Liverpool.

There has been a lot of talk about Mohamed Salah and his current contract situation, however, fellow attacker Sadio Mane is set to see his contract expire at the exact same time.

Who is a bigger priority for a new contract?

Mane!

Mane!

Salah!

Salah!

Mane has clearly been outshone by Salah since the pair have been playing together, however, that does not mean the Senegal international has been far from great, having scored 111 goals during his time with the club.

Romano believes that Liverpool must be careful with Mane as there will be plenty of clubs willing to sign him if he doesn’t sign a new deal.

He said: “I’m sure that for players like Mane, it will not be a problem to find a solution, but at the moment, I’m not saying that he’s 100% leaving. I’m saying that Liverpool need to be careful with the budget. This is why it is taking time with Mohamed Salah, because also Sadio Mane [is] something that they need to consider.”

How well do you know these Liverpool squad numbers? Starting off with an easy one: Mo Salah

Given how superb Salah has been for Liverpool, it may not be a surprise to see Mane’s contract situation getting slightly overlooked by the club and media, however, if he was to leave, it would put a lot of pressure on new signing Luis Diaz to perform over a full league campaign having exploded into life since his January move.

Judging by the stats, Mane is actually a much more clinical finisher than Salah, as when given a chance, he misses far less often than the Egyptian, with Mane getting a goal for every 0.44 shot on target, compared to Salah’s 0.37 (FBRef).

So if Liverpool don’t realise the severity of Mane’s contract situation, he could well be snapped up on a pre-contract by a foreign club in less than 12 months.
