Newcastle United fans will surely be buzzing to see what Alan Shearer replied to some footage that re-emerged of him on Amazon Prime.
The Athletic has recently put together an article about what transfers from years gone by would look like in the modern-day inflated market, with Alan Shearer, who was signed by Newcastle in 1996 for a then world-record fee, would apparently cost over £200m now.
Is Shearer the best PL striker of all time?
Yes!
No!
This should not come as too much of a surprise given that he is arguably one of the best players to have ever graced the Premier League, is the league’s all-time top scorer and is in its Hall of Fame, all while not winning a single piece of silverware with his boyhood club.
However, this is not something Shearer regrets as he spoke on Amazon Prime to comedian John Bishop about how he’d not change signing for Newcastle if he could go back in time, claiming: ‘If I had the chance of Man Utd or Newcastle again, I’d choose Newcastle.’
This got dragged back up on Twitter and Shearer couldn’t help but reiterate his point.

TIF Thoughts on Shearer’s comments…
The fact that Shearer had the chance to sign for one of the best English club teams of all time in Manchester United but decided to live out his childhood dream of playing for Newcastle United only makes him more of a legend on Tyneside, especially given the long-term rivalry between the two sides.
Even after a career that only yielded one major trophy – the Premier League that he won with Blackburn Rovers – Shearer would clearly not trade his memories and time at Newcastle for any more silverware, showing that he played the game for the right reasons.
