Recent claims about Luka Jovic could be set to have a pretty big impact on both Richarlison and owner Farhad Moshiri at Everton.

According to reports in Spanish outlet Marca, Jovic is on the verge of leaving Real Madrid, claiming that barring something unforeseen between now and the end of the campaign, ‘he will pack his bags this summer’.

Noted transfer insider Fabrizio Romano did claim in the latter stages of the January window that Everton had made a bid to sign the Serbian forward, but Real Madrid turned the bid down. However, with this latest development, the chances of them being able to sign him may well have just increased.

Sport Witness has claimed that a move to Everton looks possible.

What was the fee for Everton paid for Fabian Delph?

And if they were to do so, it could have an impact on Richarlison and Moshiri, although it will do so in two very different ways:

The end of the road for Richarlison?

It feels as though the 24-year-old Brazilian is coming to the end of his stint at Goodison Park. His production levels aren’t quite the same as they have been in recent years and there have been reports that suggest Manchester United could come in for him during the summer transfer window.

And if the club are to stay up, with their place in the top flight far from guaranteed, it would make sense for them to cash in on him whilst he still has some value and try to bring in some new faces so that boss Frank Lampard can start to build a team in his own image.

An emphatic statement from Moshiri?

And if they were to sell him, Jovic would be the perfect statement signing for the club to make in his place.

Whilst his form at Madrid hasn’t been great, his days at Eintracht Frankfurt show that there is still a quality player in there somewhere, and a player that could simply be unleashed if he was played a lot more often and given a starring role.

The Everton owner certainly isn’t in the good books of some Toffees fans after his recent actions, but a signing like this of someone with such high potential would be a big indicator that he’s willing to bring in big names in order to make the club bigger.

TIF Verdict…

This does seem like the perfect ‘one in, one out’ scenario for Everton, especially if the sale offsets the price that they would have to pay given the FFP implications that the club have hanging over them.

So not only will it give them something to work with on the pitch, but it might also help them in more ways than one with how things are being handled off the pitch as well. There’s still some way to go until the summer window, and with plenty of twists and turns possible, especially when it comes to what league Everton will play in next year, it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
