Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on the Que Golazo YouTube channel about how a new manager could change the future of Donny van de Beek at Manchester United.

Van de Beek was an exciting signing for Manchester United back in 2020, having previously starred in an Ajax side that made the Champions League semi-finals and won the Eredivisie title in 2019.

Does Van de Beek have a future at Man United?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

However, the Dutch international now finds himself out on loan at an Everton side who are just one point and place above the relegation zone, which highlights just how badly his time in the Premier League has been.

Despite this, Romano believes that linked manager Erik ten Hag, who coached Van de Beek at Ajax, could help turn his fortunes around at Old Trafford if he was to replace Ralf Rangnick as United boss.

He said: “Erik ten Hag – super appreciated because of his mentality. He’s kind of a Manchester United manager in his ideas, in his approach, in style and this is why he’s really appreciated.

“But also, imagine for some players, like for example, Donny van de Beek; he could be back from [his] Everton loan and maybe it could be a completely different story with Erik ten Hag as manager.”

TIF Thoughts on Van de Beek…

Manchester United fans, do you remember how many points you picked up in seasons gone by? Let's find out, starting with 2020/21

There is clearly a player in Van de Beek, as since he’s been at Everton, the midfielder has already completed 14 progressive passes that have gone forward more than 10 yards having only started four league games – which is more progressive passes per 90 than the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure and Andre Gomes – so he’s clearly trying his best to get the Toffees moving further up the field.

If Ten Hag ends up getting the Man United job, then it would likely be Van de Beek’s best possible chance of becoming a regular at Old Trafford given they’ve worked together previously and got the Dutchman playing his best football in the Eredivisie.
