Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on The United Stand YouTube channel about Manchester United’s interest in Antony.

Manchester United, despite having wingers such as Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Anthony Elanga and Jesse Lingard who can play out wide, they’re still reportedly interested in signing Eredivisie sensation Antony.

Do Man United need a new striker?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The Brazilian winger is attracting interest from a whole host of top European clubs due to his stunning form for Ajax this season, which has seen him register 11 goals and nine assists across all competitions while playing in all but one game of the Dutch outfit’s Champions League campaign.

However, while Man United may well be interested in Antony, Romano believes there is nothing concrete yet.

He said: “I’m sure that this boy is ready for the next step, and talking about Man United, the answer I’m receiving when I’m asking about Antony on the players’ side, is that there are many clubs interested. So there is nothing advanced with any single club at the moment.

“I’m sure that he is a player that Manchester United are following, because all top clubs are following this boy. He could be the next big thing in his position. But at the moment, it is not something advanced.”

TIF Thoughts on Antony…

Under Ralf Rangnick, Man United’s problem has mainly been scoring goals and killing off games, having netted more than twice in a single fixture just once in their last eight matches, so targeting Antony may not be a bad idea.

However, with Rangnick destined to leave the dugout at the end of the season and head to the boardroom, we think Man United must wait until they appoint a new manager to see if they also like Antony, which is likely why there have been no concrete talks at the minute.
