Leeds United didn’t deliver a debut delight for Jesse Marsch, falling to a 1-0 defeat at the King Power Stadium after Harvey Barnes’ strike in the second half ensured that the American and his side returned to Elland Road with nothing to show for their efforts.

In an entertaining game, Kasper Schmeichel was called on numerous times, with Leeds’ missed chances coming back to haunt them as the game was settled midway through the second period, with the Whites unable to respond.

Will Marsch keep Leeds in the Premier League?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Former Leeds and Manchester United man Rio Ferdinand analysed the defending for the goal, slamming Stuart Dallas for how he went about his work.

In the BT Sport studio at full-time, the former England international had the following to say: “Make your mind up and get the forward to think. In the end, he does nothing. Everything he does is wrong. He’s so square on and has no ability to turn or run. Barnes has set him up well from an attacking point of view. If he got his legs in a side angle, and says I’ll race you to the line, then he’s got a chance.”

He certainly could’ve done better, but so could the forwards of Leeds. They had almost triple the shots that Leicester had but couldn’t convert a chance. Kasper Schmeichel had a good game, but the Leeds attack should have done more.

Dallas was wasteful throughout the game though, losing the ball 22 times, that’s not good enough at any level of football, let alone in the Premier League. He only won half of his ground duels too, showing how it wasn’t his best day at the office and will need to improve next time out.
