West Ham’s hunt for Champions League football suffered another setback on Saturday evening as David Moyes’ side were once again left winless, winning just two of their last five games. The defeat on Saturday casts major doubts on their Champions League aspirations.

Despite still being 5th at full time of their game and within touching distance of the top four, they have played more games than their rivals so could be left behind when sides such as Arsenal catch up.

It was a tough test for the Hammers who went to one of the toughest places in the league, Anfield. They gave a good account of themselves and on another day could have had something to take back to London with them. That’s a good sign for the Hammers fans who will be hoping he is back for the next game after he missed the Anfield test with illness. If he is back in Thursday that will be a huge lift to supporters and players alike.
