Leeds United’s first game under Jesse Marsch showed a noticeable improvement from their recent form, but it wasn’t enough to get anything. Harvey Barnes’ second half strike was enough to settle the tie 1-0 for the Foxes.

Welcome to the harsh reality of Premier League football, Jesse Marsch! For the most part, the Whites did everything spot on, they had 19 shots in total to the seven of their opponents, but the difference was that clinical edge missing from the Leeds lineup.

Will Marsch keep Leeds in the Premier League?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Obviously, all eyes were on Marsch, with Phil Dawkes picking up on this when writing for the BBC: “Jesse Marsch is playing fast and loose with his technical area here. Aside from when he was on the bucket, Marcelo Bielsa was a very organised pacer of his territory on the touchline, but the American is all over the shop, venturing out of the marked zone. He’ll have an impressive heatmap just from this opening alone.”

Jonathan Woodgate also paid close attention to the American on the touchline: “I tell you what, Leeds look lethal when they counter-attack, they really do. They have got real pace, which is hard to defend against. You see Jesse Marsch’s reaction when Leeds just won the ball back, it was like they’d scored a goal. He clenches his fist as if to say – brilliant boys.”

Although the result was not what was desired, it appears the new boss had a positive effect on proceedings, with those reporting live from the game fixated on him.

Leeds have had some odd players over the last ten years but how well do you remember them. Starting with the most recent one, who is this?

Leeds now remain just two points above the drop, but the games that follow them could see them slip towards the bottom three, and even in to it if both Everton and Burnley can find a way to win.

However, the improved performance can give Leeds players and fans the hope and belief that they have what it takes to turn around their dismal season and beat the drop.
