On Friday night, Leeds United battled back from 2-0 down at half-time at Wolves to secure a dramatic 3-2 win late on to give them breathing space in the fight for Premier League survival.

Jonny and Francisco Trincao gave the hosts a two goal lead at the interval, then a red card for Raul Jimenez changed the game and gave Leeds a much needed lifeline. They took it as Jack Harrison and Rodrigo levelled the score inside three minutes before Luke Ayling fired home in stoppage time to win the game.

Ayling’s goal in stoppage time wasn’t his only involvement that got pundits talking. He decided to take a quick throw in despite Leeds holding a slender lead with minutes remaining. Normally you see players running the clock down.

Jamie Carragher had this to say on Sky Sports’ live commentary: “When I watch Leeds, sometimes I see things I can’t believe. Whether it be Bielsa or that man in charge [Jesse Marsch]. That’s why everyone loves watching Leeds.”

You’d normally praise someone for doing the sporting thing and not looking to run the clock down, but with Leeds’ precarious position in the table, risking the three points wasn’t a sensible call.
