Leeds United would be willing to sell Helder Costa in the summer if they are able to find a club interested in the 28-year-old.

That is according to football journalist Dean Jones who spoke to This Is Futbol to discuss the summer transfer window ahead of Jesse Marsch in Yorkshire.

What should Leeds do with Costa?

The attacker, who signed for £16m,  is currently in the final months of his season-long loan deal with La Liga side Valencia where he has made 19 appearances in the Spanish top flight.

Costa’s game time has taken a hit in recent weeks with his last four league appearances coming from the bench with a combined 21 minutes of action (via Transfermarkt).

Having spent the season away from Elland Road after failing to impress over the 2020/21 campaign, Jones believes if there is an offer on the table, Marsch would likely be open to selling:

“He [Marsch] might be willing to give him an opportunity but ultimately if Leeds could find a taker then I think they would sell him,” Jones said.

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

Having made an impression at Elland Road during his initial loan spell in the Championship, it has not exactly worked out for the 28-year-old in Yorkshire.

Leeds’ return to the Premier League saw the winger struggle to make much of an impression on Marcelo Bielsa’s starting XI with just 13 starts in the top flight to his name.

And with the arrival of the £25m Daniel James last summer, we do have to question whether Costa will have a spot in Marsch’s plans when he returns from his loan spell?

However, with speculation surrounding the future of Raphinha at Elland Road, could the Brazilian’s potential departure provide Costa with a chance to prove his worth to the American?
