Tony Scott has been speaking on The All Together Now podcast about the moment he got to show fans the shocking VAR decision which went against Everton last weekend from the press box.

Everton were seemingly denied a stonewall penalty last Saturday evening against Manchester City when Rodri appeared to handle the ball quite clearly in the penalty area, with the Toffees receiving an apology from referees’ chief, Mike Riley.

Will Lampard keep Everton up?

Yes!

No!

No!

It was a very poor decision by the on-pitch referee as well as the VAR team, however, some fans didn’t quite know how bad it was until Scott showed them a video of the incident from his seat in the press box.

Scott spoke about how fans couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

He said: “I was very fortunate to have the VAR screen in front of me, so I could actually see it in the press box and I was going, ‘I can’t believe it, I can’t believe it’. Then when I actually showed fans on my mobile phone after it and showed them, their jaws just dropped.”

Which of these Serie A stars did the Toffees miss out on?

Despite the incident happening almost a week ago, it’s still a very hot topic as Everton fans continue to be angered by the decision to not award them a penalty, as well as at Riley and the PGMOL for thinking a simple apology was sufficient for what actually happened.

While the penalty incident was a huge turning point in the game in Man City’s favour, even if Everton had been awarded a spot-kick, there’s no guarantee that they would have scored it, while it was definitely not a certainty that Man City wouldn’t have stepped it up a gear and netted a second goal in the event of an equaliser, so the entire result shouldn’t be pinned on this single incident.
