Journalist Chris Jack believes that Rangers want to tie Connor Goldson down to a new long-term deal at Ibrox.

Goldson has been a real mainstay in the Rangers side this campaign, notching up 28 appearances whilst scoring and assisting twice, according to Transfermarkt.

Football Scotland reported in January that there was interest in the 29-year-old, with the main clubs concerned being Nottingham Forest and West Bromwich Albion.

Goldson’s contract is set to expire at the end of May and with the interest from other clubs, if Rangers don’t want to let their man leave on a free, then they will have to tie him down to a new deal.

Chris Jack spoke to GiveMeSport and said that Rangers will be keen to sign the Englishman to a new deal at Ibrox.

He said: “Rangers would like him to sign a new deal and I know Stewart Robertson spoke about Goldson’s contract a couple of weeks ago. I think Rangers are trying to give off the most positive vibes that they possibly can.”

TIF Thoughts on Connor Goldson…

Goldson has been a solid performer for Rangers since he signed from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2018. He has an average match rating over the past 12 months of 7.12 on SofaScore.

With claims that Goldson could be on for a move back to England, Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst will surely be keen on tying him down to a contract so he will either stay at the club for the foreseeable future or so that he won’t leave on a free, because his impressive performances should mean that they could receive a respectable sum for him.
