Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph has admitted that he might have been wrong about Celtic’s chances this season following their recent victory in the Scottish Premiership.

Ange Postecoglou’s men ran out emphatic 3-0 winners last night in the Old Firm derby, with a brace from Reo Hatate and a Liel Abada strike enough to give them all three points.

Which season did Roy Keane join the Hoops?

The result means that they now head to the top of the table, and whilst there is still a long way to go in the season, this result could end up being huge in determining where the league title ends up come the end of the campaign.

Taking to Twitter, Joseph claimed that given everything that went on at Celtic over the past few months in terms of changes, he thought this season might not have gone too well for them. But he had to admit he got it wrong, praising boss Postecoglou for what he’s done so far and the importance of their victory last night:

Will Reo Hatate be a star at Celtic

You can certainly understand where Joseph may have been coming from at the start of the year. Given the turnover of players in the summer, added to the fact Postecoglou was managing in Scotland for the first time, it would have been a reasonable assumption to think that this might have been a difficult year for Celtic.

And given how dominant Rangers were last year, winning the league with a 25-point margin, whilst some drop-off might have been expected under then-boss Steven Gerrard, it’s not impossible to have thought they may have put up a similar fight this year.

Let’s just hope Celtic can keep up this momentum moving forward and gain the title back once again, otherwise people like Joseph may have to admit they were wrong again for jumping the gun this time around.
