Celtic put on a show on Wednesday night in front of a packed Parkhead as they sealed all three points to take them top of the Scottish Premiership table

At the centre of the emphatic victory against their bitter rivals was the January signing, Reo Hatate, who helped himself to two goals and an assist.

And it was apparent the 24-year-old midfielder’s display on Wednesday night had drawn the attention of the Sky Sports reporter, Keith Downie, who voiced his thoughts on Twitter: “What a find Reo Hatate is by Celtic. Amazing talent”.

The Japanese midfielder joined the Bhoys last month and has proven to be an instant star at Parkhead having netted against Hearts in their recent victory in Edinburgh.

Hatate joined Ange Postecoglou’s side for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £1.38m from the Japanese J League side, Kawasaki Frontale.

The midfielder’s first minutes in a Celtic jersey came just over two weeks ago which saw the 24-year-old named as the Man of the Match for his impressive display against Shaun Maloney’s Hibernian.

It seems Postecoglou’s previous experience from working in Japan is paying dividends with another January signing from Japan, Daizen Maeda, also making a bright start to life with Celtic.

With the Bhoys now sitting top of the Premiership table, Postecoglou will be keen to welcome the return of Kyogo Furuhashi, Tom Rogic and David Turnbull back into the side ahead of the run-in.
