Fabrizio Romano has insisted Antonio Conte is happy at Tottenham Hotspur despite their recent difficulties since the turn of the year.

The Italian journalist was speaking on his YouTube channel following the Lilywhites’ impressive victory on the weekend in the Premier League.

Conte was subject to a fair bit of questioning by the media last week after sitting down with Sky Italia for an interview where he feels his comments were misinterpreted.

The interview with the Italian broadcaster shared Conte’s thoughts on the January transfer window in north London as he claimed the side had been weakened by losing more players than they signed.

And despite the 52-year-old’s claims in the interview, Romano had the following to say on Conte’s outlook at Spurs following their victory against Manchester City:

“They needed the reaction, and from what I’m told – and as I said here on the channel – Antonio Conte, also after his interview to Sky Italy, he is not planning things like leaving or creating a problem.

“No, he wants to be clear, he wants to react, he wants the club to think with a winning mentality and he wanted the players to react on the pitch. This is what he asked in the dressing room the day before the game with Man City, and this is what we saw on the pitch.”

TIF Thoughts on Conte’s future…

Spurs have had a difficult start to the year with their results taking a bit of a hit over the opening month of 2022, however, Saturday’s game could well be an indicator of better things to come.

The result against Pep Guardiola’s team was certainly a positive sign, but we think just as positive were the Italian’s comments after the game.

Since arriving, Conte has been pretty honest in his assessment of the club’s business and areas for improvement, but on Saturday, he shared his admiration for the players at the club.

So with the Italian showing a more positive outlook on the Spurs squad, this could be a sign the 52-year-old plans on staying for longer than has been speculated by some.
