Liverpool fans are anxiously waiting for the news to drop that Mo Salah, who has guided Egypt to the AFCON final, has signed a new contract at the club, with an agreement yet to be reached between the Premier League’s current top scorer and the Reds.

Salah has been in electric form this season, in the Premier League alone he has 16 goals and nine assists – that’s frightening given February has only just started.

Duncan Castles on The Transfer Window podcast looked at the current stand point of Salah, and delivered an update on his future.

He said: “Salah, who’s shifted from a position of actively exploring the Spanish market in particular hoping for a move to Real Madrid and Barcelona, to one of, I want to stay at Liverpool, but they need to pay me the money I’m worth and has been pressuring the club to give him the biggest contract in their history.”

TIF thoughts on Salah situation…

As we can see just by the form mentioned earlier, it would be a disaster if the Egyptian royalty was to leave Merseyside. Many are dubbing him the best player in the world at the moment, an argument you just can’t disagree with.

It’s not just a case for FSG to pay up, they have handed out multiple big contracts to key players, but Salah is likely to break the new wage structure again given the nature of his form. If the demands are unrealistic, no one is bigger than the club. The problem is though, Salah is simply irreplaceable. If anyone is worth a record-breaking Anfield contract, it’s undoubtedly Salah.

Which flop signed with Luis Suarez?

If an announcement is made soon about the Egyptian putting pen to paper on a new contract, it would be music to the ears of Liverpool fans who don’t want to see their iconic forward leave for a cut price with his contract running down.
