It was a frustrating transfer window for Tottenham Hotspur at all levels, from the board, to the coaching staff, to the fans.

They missed out on key targets such as Adama Traore and Luis Diaz to Barcelona and Liverpool respectively. After failing to acquire the main men, Conte was left furious and who can blame him? The hard work appeared to be done for both of them before they had their pockets pinched.

Do you think Conte will walk away?

No

They did bring in Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur to appease the Italian manager, with reports claiming he could walk out on the club if he didn’t see his ambitions being matched.

Duncan Castles’ claim on The Transfer Window podcast will only support that: “He turned them down last summer and wasn’t prepared to get involved in that thought he could get to a superior platform to work from and in the end, he kind of got back in bed with the devil who he hadn’t been happy with working with Juventus, Fabio Paratici.

“This is, I’m told, very much a marriage of convenience on the part of those two and it was done on a promise that there would be very significant investment in the Tottenham team and they would build a squad capable of doing what Conte wants to do from a sporting perspective. They have not done that, that’s clear and they had a really quite extraordinary window in many ways.”

TIF thoughts on Conte…

Reading the reports it wouldn’t be a shock if he did decide to move on from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium soon. Especially with how the January window has gone and his strained relationship with Paratici. Castles’ claim just cements the idea that it is a strong possibility.

The CV Conte can boast would be a huge loss to Spurs as they look to take the step to compete with the elite in English football, Liverpool and Manchester City. Keeping Conte could be vital to that challenge.
