Tony Scott has been speaking on the All Together Now podcast about what Jamie Carragher said to him about new Everton signing Dele Alli.

Everton were one of the busiest clubs during the closing stages of the January transfer window as they appointed Frank Lampard as their new manager before handing him two new midfielders in the form of Alli and Donny van de Beek.

Will Alli succeed at Everton?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The Englishman has joined on a permanent basis despite registering just two goal involvements in the league since the beginning of last season, but if played in the right position, he could yet rediscover the form from earlier on in his Spurs career.

Scott has revealed what Carragher had to say on Alli and what he could bring to Everton.

“In terms of the managers that he’s played under recently, they are quite negative managers, aren’t they, and they’re not going to get the best out of a number eight or number 10 type of player.

“I was speaking to Jamie Carragher before and he was saying about the Alli situation and he was saying when Dele Alli scored all them goals, he was basically playing as a false nine most of the time, up front.”

TIF Thoughts on Dele Alli…

The Everton midfielder certainly has a point to prove as he appeared to lose his way at Tottenham once Mauricio Pochettino departed, but working under one of the best midfielders to ever grace the Premier League in Lampard, he could rediscover his goalscoring touch.

Alli may well feel like he has something to prove to the Spurs board and Antonio Conte as they have let him go on an initial free transfer, with clauses in terms of appearances making up the bulk of the transfer fee, so that shows how desperate they were to get him off the books.
